Just Launched! — Create Beautiful Timelines to Share With the Team

by Keith Brown

We recently said goodbye to painful spreadsheets and hello to Aha! reports for everything product management. It is clear from talking with many of you that Aha! Reports are a huge hit. But some of you told us that you also want ability to visualize your time-based data in an equally custom and beautiful way.

That’s why we just launched the new Reports Timeline. It gives you a powerful way to plot key activities on a timeline. You already have this information in Aha! Now, you can quickly build beautiful timelines for your Goals; Initiatives; Releases; Ideas; Features; Requirements; and To-Dos across all of your products with just a few clicks. Then, you can easily share your timelines selectively with colleagues and other stakeholders using a secure notebook or PDF.

Choose from the key product management and development data that you have entered in Aha! and add them to your timeline. Then, select how the time-based data is presented. You can even customize the look and feel of your timeline by changing themes and colors.

Key features

Create timelines for everything in Aha! You can now create the customized timeline you always wanted for any and every part of your company, product line, or product. Then, you can share and present timelines for all parts of the product planning process with executives and the broader team. You can pan and zoom using the control above the Timeline.

Use the control on the Timeline to set the scale to years, months, weeks, or even days. In the example above, the Timeline is scaled to show a strategic roadmap of initiatives by product over the next two upcoming quarters.

Generate Timelines based on key milestones or event ranges You can choose the timeframe from two options by clicking the Select Data button. The Milestone option shows specific points on your timeline represented by dots. The Duration option shows a range of dates represented by bars.

You can use these event ranges to build a custom Timeline showing anything in Aha! that is time-based. You can even include additional information like current status alongside the rows of the Timeline.

In this example above, we created a Timeline showing releases by product over the next two quarters, and included the current status of each release.

Save the views and share them with the team (shared views and via Notebooks) Create powerful timelines once and save the views for later. Then, you can share saved views with your team so everyone is looking at the same information. Just click the Save option once you complete your timeline. Or, click Saved Views to access a previously saved view. All of your timeline views can be added to a Web Notebook, saved as an image, or exported as a PDF.

Getting started

The Reports Timeline is now available for use under the Reports tab. To help you get started, we created a few commonly requested example reports:

  • Releases by product

  • Releases by product with status

  • Releases (external release dates)

  • Features by assignee

It’s time to confidently share your brilliant plans across a single product, your entire product portfolio, or anything in between. Happy roadmapping.
