Just Launched! — Enhanced Kanban Board to Manage Your Initiatives, Features, and Requirements

by Claire George

Agile product and marketing teams love kanban boards. Why? Because you can visualize the status of work as it progresses. The ability to quickly see who is doing what and the status of the work helps everyone be more productive.

Aha! gives you a kanban experience with our workflow board. Many product teams reference the workflow board continuously, to track features through the development cycle. Marketing teams also find this view helpful for coordinating the day-to-day flow of their activities. Our latest update gives you even more ways to use the workflow board.

You can now use the workflow board to visualize the status of your initiatives and requirements.

If you are already a power user of the workflow board, you know that it is possible to toggle between two record types, depending on what workspace your team is using — either master features and features, or master activities and activities.

Now, in addition to those records, you are able to manage requirements in this kanban view. Note that you will need to make sure the workflow view is enabled if you want to use it. This view is turned off in your account by default to simplify the user experience. We also added a new initiatives workflow board in the strategy section of Aha! so you can visualize the progress of your high-level efforts.

Here is how you can use the enhanced workflow board. We will start by explaining how to use it for initiatives — because strategy should always come first:

Increase visibility of initiative status You will notice a workflow view icon at the top of the initiatives page. Click the icon to visualize the flow of initiatives as you move from planning through to completing the work. Enterprises that use the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology will find the ability to create a portfolio-level kanban board especially helpful.

Include initiatives from multiple products to see the progress of portfolio-wide strategic efforts in one view.

Manage your requirements workflow Display requirements on a workflow board to see who is working on what and the progress that they have made. This gives the product team a detailed view into how work is progressing so you can keep your release plans on track.

Select the record type you want to display on the workflow board.

Customize your cards Configure the layout of your cards to display critical information about the work in progress. You can include fields such as due date, tags, and custom fields. A quick glance at the tags on the example below shows a lot of requirements needing front-end development.

You can toggle between a collapsed and expanded card view.

Every team can benefit from greater visibility and collaboration.

We hope these enhancements will bring joy to our kanban fans. Go ahead and enable the workflow board in your product or marketing workspace so you can get even more done — faster.
