Our customers often tell us they like to customize too. You love to make Aha! your own via the myriad of ways that you can customize the application. So, we keep trying to make it easier to make Aha! match the way you work.
Today’s update takes custom field customization to an entirely new level. You can now leverage our flexible data model to capture and link product information everywhere.
You have always had the ability to create custom fields, and could even create persona custom fields to link to your existing data. We just added the ability to create custom fields for every record in Aha! including products, goals, initiatives, competitors, personas, releases, features, and ideas.
There are hundreds of ways you can use custom fields across Aha! — but let’s start with a few of the more common examples to get you started:
Associate ideas with your strategy
Now you can associate customer and employee ideas with your strategic goals and initiatives. Then you can promote the ones that are most relevant to your strategic vision.
Connect new ideas back to your high-level product strategy.
Identify key personas on each release
Well-defined personas allow your entire team to empathize with your customer’s challenges and better understand their needs. Now you can use a custom field and link a release to the persona that it serves to communicate exactly who the key targets are.
Add personas to your regularly-planned releases to communicate customer and business value.
Link competitors to features
Defining your competitors in Aha! allows you to better prioritize your own product roadmap based on competitive movement. Using custom fields, you can quickly identify and communicate which features and ideas will impact specific competitors.
A competitor custom field shows those that are relevant to a specific feature.
Report on custom fields
You can also report on custom fields and share them with your team. With the list table report, you can add column headers for every data object in Aha! and then filter and sort the data to present different views of what you have going on across your product management environment.
Easily create your own reports using the custom fields of your choice.
Administrators that have Customizations permissions can create custom fields and determine layouts for products. To add a new custom field, go to Settings > Account > Custom fields and scroll to the Aha! record relationships section.
Choose the type of record which you would like to turn into a custom field. You can then specify whether the values in the drop-down choice list should be isolated to a specific product line or product, or include choices from across the entire account. For example, the features custom field on an initiative could only show options from features that are in the same product.
