Just Launched! — Detailed Reporting on Your Product Management Data

by Jessica Groff

Are you trying to get a clearer picture of what will really make an impact in 2018? I think this is the case for most product managers this time of year. Of course, you want to avoid the dreaded analysis paralysis. But to make the right decisions for your product next year, you need access to the right information. And quickly.

Aha! just made that work easier with our most advanced filtering capabilities yet — seamlessly embedded in your product management dataset.

Aha! is the single source of truth for all of your product management work. This is where you enter your strategy, releases, and feature details — it is also where you analyze your plans and report on what has been accomplished. This makes it possible to stop relying on your “gut” and instead make decisions with confidence.

Our latest update gives you powerful new filtering options so you can quickly refine your product management roadmaps, reports, and charts. Include or exclude data records using ALL, ANY, and NONE filter logic to show only the most relevant information. This is an important enhancement that helps you answer those pressing product questions even faster.

Here are a few ways you can use the new advanced filters to improve your product reporting:

Rally the team around important initiatives You could already use filters on roadmaps and reports in Aha! to show the information that matters most to you. For example, you could create a strategic roadmap that shows initiatives across the organization. You can then filter to focus only on those initiatives nearing completion to make it clear where you may need to bring in more resources to hit your due date. (If no advanced filter logic is specified, ALL is the default operator used.)

ALL: Filtered results match all of the selected criteria.

Track releases that benefit customers With our latest enhancement, you can now exclude specific data from your reports. In the example below, a pivot report measures how quickly the team is delivering features that are valuable to customers. With a custom field that captures release audience, you can then use the NONE filter to remove internal releases that would otherwise skew your data.

NONE: Filtered results exclude the selected criteria.

Identify the most valuable product ideas You want to continuously review new ideas so you can discover those that are most requested and need your attention. This helps keep the team working on what drives the business most. With the new advanced filters, once you set the logic, you can adjust the details to further narrow the data shown. In the example below, the report is filtered to only show ideas with a score greater than 75 or idea status of “Needs review.”

ANY: Filtered results match any of the selected criteria.

Stay on top of feature status As your release date approaches, you may want to create a chart that shows features still in progress sorted by the assignee to identify any potential workload issues before they occur. In the example shown below, we filtered out all features that are ready to ship or shipped.

Chart of features that will be released within the next 30 days, filtered by the assignee and excluding any features with a “Ready to ship” status.

Apply flexible custom filters Multiple filters can now be applied to any view across Aha! in a single step. The basic filter option lets you quickly add multiple filters with ALL logic, just as you always could. Use the new advanced filter option to add ALL, ANY, and NONE logic to the filters to show the exact data you need.

You can now easily add, remove, and search for filters from within the same modal.
