My name is Ashley Borg — this is what I achieve at Aha!

What is the best way to accelerate your career? Work in a high-growth company that challenges you and puts learning first. An unwavering motivation to continue improving and achieving is also key. The highest performers constantly pursue new ideas and seek to understand the experiences and motivations of the people around them. We can learn a lot from them.

Curiosity fuels growth — which is why we want to bring you personal stories of achievement from talented people. Our hope is that some of their ideas are useful and maybe even inspirational as you work to become your best.

Meet Ashley Borg, a senior creative manager who has been part of the Aha! marketing team for more than four years. In her role, she enjoys making an impact through strategic creative thinking, bold designs, and cross-functional teamwork. She also loves participating in Aha! traditions — with contest-winning Aha!lloween costumes and a passion for "pool jumps" at company onsites. She lives in Long Beach, CA.

What energizes you about being a senior creative manager?

"I love that I get to pivot between strategic thinking and tactical projects. My work is not only to ideate new ad campaigns and website designs, but also to develop color palettes and ensure that our brand is applied consistently across all customer and employee touchpoints. I enjoy that I get to collaborate cross-functionally in unique ways for a creative — all while helping our creative team be efficient, organized, and empowered to produce incredible work."

"No two projects or two days are the same when you are thinking broadly about how creative can impact a business."

What types of projects do you enjoy working on most?

"Art and graphic design have so much power as communication methods — you can tell rich, engaging stories and reach audiences in unique ways. It is always fulfilling to figure out the best ways to leverage this.

For example, I love to reimagine how we present the things that differentiate us, like our Customer Success team, with aesthetics that communicate our unique expertise. One way we do this is through our photography style — using confident poses, branded gear, and consistent color palettes. This is where I find the most joy. When I get to be the one who solves these 'puzzles', I'm a very happy creative manager."

What is a recent accomplishment at Aha! that you are proud of?

"We recently launched a new integrated campaign. It tells the story of how small steps can add up to a lovable product and celebrates product builders who dare to deliver groundbreaking ideas to market.

We had never done something so wide-reaching. I got to create and pitch concepts, contract a new tool to speed up ad creation, then design and produce a range of campaign assets. I am proud of how well the campaign performed and was received. I am also proud of how our tiny (yet mighty) creative group worked so seamlessly together and with stakeholders. It was a dream project with a dream team."

What has been the most rewarding thing about joining the Aha! team?

"The people who work at Aha! are brilliant, hardworking, and kind. When I'm met with challenges, I'm only a click away from an entire organization ready to help.

"The partnerships we forge at Aha! strengthen our work as a team."

These relationships have matured my skills as a designer, helping me become a more creative marketer. Every day I learn something new — whether it is guidance from the development team on how to build out our design systems as we grow, or insights from product marketing on how AI can support our customer empathy."

How do you keep learning and building knowledge in your role?

"I ask as many questions as I can. I try to stay humble — if I do not understand something, that doesn't stop me from asking for an explanation. You'd be surprised at the knowledge people are excited to provide when you are curious and open to new perspectives. You never know who will drop some useful advice you didn't even know you needed."

What advice do you have for aspiring or early-career creatives?

"Don't get too attached to your own work. You may create something really beautiful and develop a confidence that you know what is best. But we are not making art to hang in our own bedrooms — there is a business to support.

"When you can anchor your work in strategy, you'll develop more meaningful and lasting concepts, be able to pivot based on feedback, and develop creative that makes a difference for the business and your audience."

Plus, your dedication to the craft will be rewarded with the fulfillment of delivering something better than you had originally created."
