Aha! expands product development suite with new whiteboarding and knowledge base tools

by Brian de Haaff

The vision remains. When we started Aha! in 2013, my co-founder Dr. Chris Waters and I shared a hope for the future. We saw a world of lovable software created by happy product managers. Our commitment and enthusiasm have not waned. If anything, bearing witness to how people rely on our products every day to deliver more value to their own customers makes us more bullish than ever.

More than 1 million product builders at the world's best-known and most innovative companies rely on Aha! to help bring their product strategies to life.

We are honored to be the "innovation infrastructure" so many companies depend on. Aha! has grown to provide value across the entire product development lifecycle through our flagship product — Aha! Roadmaps — as well as Aha! Ideas, Aha! Develop, and Aha! Academy. Our team of experts also serves as a trusted guide for product teams everywhere.

We are committed to enhancing the value we provide. Recently, Aha! customers shared two evolving needs. You want to work more effectively with the broader team at the beginning of your innovation cycle. And you want to help colleagues and customers better understand how you work and how to get the most benefit from what you are building.

Today, we introduce Aha! Whiteboards and Aha! Knowledge — dedicated offerings that serve different phases of product development.

Whiteboarding and knowledge sharing via a wiki were previously available in a product called Aha! Notebooks. But it became obvious over time that shaping abstraction during early-stage thinking and centralizing critical product knowledge are discrete activities — combining that functionality no longer makes sense. Your teams and stakeholders engage in those activities in fundamentally different ways.

So, we decided to sunset Aha! Notebooks and separate whiteboarding and product documentation into two new products. Customers who use Aha! Roadmaps still have access to that functionality. All product builders can now benefit from using Aha! Whiteboards and Aha! Knowledge as standalone products. You gain deeper efficiencies by leveraging both alongside the rest of the Aha! software suite. This way, you can better integrate colleagues, stakeholders, and customers into your product development process at the right moments and in the right way.

2024 is shaping up to be another exciting year for Aha! customers. Let’s welcome Aha! Whiteboards and Aha! Knowledge:

Aha! Whiteboards

Product teams deserve a whiteboarding tool that encourages an uninterrupted transition from ideation to implementation. Aha! Whiteboards provides a visual space for early-stage thinking — so you can define user flows, create mockups, and collaborate on plans. It also makes it easy to go from raw concepts to detailed roadmap plans.

Aha! Knowledge

Product teams also need a way to centralize information so internal teams and customers can easily access the resources needed for success. Aha! Knowledge enables you to create and share all of your documents from a single hub — you can generate internal wikis or craft self-serve product documentation. Quickly publish product plans and release notes as well.

Just like Aha! Ideas and Aha! Develop, Aha! Whiteboards and Aha! Knowledge offer two pricing plans: Essentials and Advanced. Aha! Roadmaps and Aha! Ideas plans will continue to include essential whiteboarding and notes capabilities at no additional cost.

Aha! Roadmaps customers can upgrade to benefit from advanced functionality. Upgrading your account also unlocks the ability to add dedicated Aha! Whiteboards and Aha! Knowledge users so the broader team can work together. This means that separate whiteboarding or wiki tools are no longer necessary. (If you already use our roadmapping software, read this special release note for more details on account upgrades.)

We know how critical early-stage whiteboarding collaboration is — especially for distributed teams. And we know that sharing vital product knowledge is imperative for communicating how best to benefit from the products you deliver. These two additions to the Aha! suite expand our ability to help people build lovable software and be happy doing it.
