Drive Greater Ideas Portal Engagement

by Claire George

Ideas portals make it easy for your customers to share their feedback. They can quickly submit an idea — directly in the portal or from within your application — and comment on other people's ideas. To keep the conversations flowing, it is important to engage as many customers as you can in the process. So this week we are introducing a new way to encourage community participation.

You can now set up a weekly email that recaps activity in your ideas portal and encourage customers to get more involved.

An ideas portal is an open forum where customers can submit new requests and browse feedback from other users — voting and commenting on ideas that resonate. Naturally, some customers might be more vocal than others. But it is in everyone's interest to encourage as many voices as possible — so you can deliver solutions they will love.

With today's update, providing input is a click away. You can set up a weekly email that highlights portal activity — keeping customers informed of the latest conversations and motivating them to stay engaged.

To get started, enable the new Weekly summary email in the Emails section of your portal settings. This option automatically sends a custom-branded email to all portal users every Monday with stats about their individual activity, all portal activity, and the most recent ideas and comments. With a single click, users can view any ideas that capture their attention and add their feedback.

This update is available to all Aha! Roadmaps and Aha! Ideas customers. It is worth noting that once enabled, email recipients can control the information they receive each week. They can select which idea categories they are most interested in or unsubscribe at any time. These emails are portal specific — meaning that users will receive separate emails from all portals that they belong to. If there is no recent portal activity, no email is sent.

Here is how the weekly summary works:

Share weekly highlights

Once you enable the weekly email, your portal users will receive a summary like the one below. Seeing their activity stats at the top reminds them they did not share any feedback last week — a good nudge for them to be more proactive. As they scroll, they view a new idea submitted by another customer. If it resonates, they can easily add their own vote or comment.

Customize the content

Your customers can tailor the email they receive by visiting their own profile settings in your portal. (A link to this page is included in each email.) In the example below, Erik selected three idea categories that are most interesting to him — notifications, reporting, and social. These selections will be applied to the recent ideas and new comments sections in his next email.

Help customers stay engaged in the ideas they care about — so you can build what they will love.

We will be sending out our own weekly summary email starting this Monday. We hope it motivates you to share feedback and help us decide what new lovable features Aha! should deliver next.
